This is another example of artwork that I created to show my art students how to do something. In this case, I wanted to teach my students how to create an artistic collage. Despite showing them lots of examples online of famous artists as well as current artists, the majority of my students didn’t get it. They were still stuck in the mindset of creating a collage of cut-outs of their favorite sports heroes etc. So, I went home and made a collage that focused on contrasting high with low materials. In this collage, there is dirt, gold leaf and hemp string that is sewn throughout the canvas. It has a very interesting texture and I love how it turned out.
